Title: TeamCapri renewed for another 3 years.
Post by: STE_6000 on March 08, 2012, 02:40:00 PM
Just wanted to let everyone know that I re-upped teamcapri for another 3 years. some of the donations helped cover a portion of the cost but any more donations, via paypal, would be greatly appreciated. if you do not have paypal but wish to donate, please don't hesitate to reply here and i'll give alternative means.

Since I have been asking so many (usually stupid) questions on this site, it is only fair that I do my part and help keep 'TeamCapri' running.  You ask for donations by paypal, but I could not find link or instructions on how to donate.

I'd probably prefer "alt means" too.

As for cost ... I assume you're talking about renting server space, not just name registration?  Names are $peanuts these days.

Does the site take a lot of resources?

teAmcapri in its current state does not require a lot of power for web space which is been a key thing to keeping the cost for the site low in order for the runs as long as it has. If you choose to use pay pal on the main teamcapri.com page you will see a donate button. If you do not see this then you can send your donations to my email address "ste_6000 @ teamcapri.com"

Thanks Anthony! I'll send some money your way once I get my PP account straightened out.

Any word on a conversion to VBulletin or similar?

One of the reasons I asked, Anthony, is that I'm a professional web development guy, and I have a personal server that's (more/less) paid for by a couple of former clients from my consulting business that I used to own before it ran into the ground.

There are only a few sites on it, and they don't use much resources either.  I wondered if I could donated some space/resources.  Of course, I'd need to research ultimatebb first, as of the top of my head I don't even know what platform it is...

I'll do that now ;)

Oh, and Rocketman ... converting to vB isn't usually a walk in the park.  Just finished doing that @ work ... started in October ;)

Of course, a lot of the time at work was spent doing other stuff while management and marketing figured out just what they wanted to do with content, promotion, etc.

Nonetheless, it's not for the timid   :(

i tried to have vbb look at the DB, and they cried and refunded me. im not sure why its so hard to get this swapped. the donations are not just for site cost. i put difference to improving the site, which is currently to get it changed over to a new forum so it can be google/bing searchable as well as tapatalk capable for cells and tablets. I have to look into the donate tab on why it doesnt work.

UPDATE: I fixed the paypal donation link a little crude in a way. it will now open a new window to point you to a donation page.
