Post by: redxr2 on August 14, 2008, 11:56:00 AM
just curious as to if a miata 1.6 turbo manifold would work on a capri? also what turbos will bolt up to the stock flange?

The manifold head flange is the same as a Miata 1.6. The miata, being RWD, has a totally different mounting of the turbo - it usually sits on top of the manifold placing it pretty much where the hood goes.

The stock flange is a IHI RHB5 flange - the only other turbo readily available that will bolt up is an IHI VJ11. You might want to look into a VJ14/Vj11  hybrid. There are a bunch of different hybrids out there too. There is a comprehensive list on the 323performance forum.

If you want a big turbo look into getting a custom manifold made, or modify a Miata manifold so the turbo mounts correctly.

It would bolt to the block just fine, but your exhaust will not line up. The Capri motor is mounted transversely, whereas, the Miata motor is not...

The downpipe would pop out where the driverside wheel is
