Title: Shocks, Lowering Springs, Wheels, Tires
Post by: SpencerXR2 on June 14, 2014, 01:31:40 AM
Hello everyone. I reciently installed some H&R lowering springs mounted to KYB GR2 Struts. I also picked up some new Motegi Racing MR116 wheels 16x7. Kinda wondering how some 205/40r16's will look on it.. Looking to wrap them with Nitto NeoGen's. Anyone have pictures of something similar?

I have 205/40/16's on mine. I'm kinda wishing now that I had gone with a higher sidewall as the 40's leave a pretty big gap in the wheel well, even with lowering springs. Here's a decent shot showing how much gap there is. Let me know if you can't see the pic....

Looks good.

What kind of lowering springs has everyone used?  I'd like to upgrade to a 195/50 R15 tire and lower it a bit while upgrading to KYB struts.  How much should I lower it without going crazy and what springs will help me do this?  My goal is to have the gap between the tire and the wheel arch look proportionate but not silly.

I used the lowering springs from Russ at Roo-Sport. I can't remember the brand. It lowered it about 1 1/2", which was good for me because it made a dramatic improvement in handling and I don't want to be sitting on the ground anyway. I am using Tokico struts, but I hear you can fab or purchase some adjustable coilovers if you want to go lower...

Thanks for the picture! I put mine on this evening and I like it a lot. Really wish shorter springs where available.. Half an inch to an inch lower would be perfect! I'd rather not heat up the springs. So maybe I could cut a coil? Anyone ever attempted anything like that on the Capri?

I take that back! It's starting to grow on me lol. Perfect gap space all the way around fender to tire. Handles soooooo much better also :)

Where did you find KYB struts for the rear?
