Title: Another Florida Capri meet
Post by: blueamber on December 15, 2018, 10:33:40 PM
It's time... a winter meet in central Florida (near Orlando) on Australia Day!  (Saturday January 26 to you non-aussies).
We're meeting at the parking lot beside the Mount Dora Museum Of Speed, 206 N Highland St, Mount Dora, FL 32757.

This is not a show car meet, no trophies or other BS, just a gathering of fellow owners of this unique imported car.  Rusty, dented, perfect, no matter, come on and share your experiences with your car.  There are less than 200 of the 1991 to 1994 models still on the road in Florida, so you will be in very special company.

Gathering time will be 12 noon to 3pm. If you wish to enter the museum, it's $15,  under 14 years old not allowed.  Nearby is
historic downtown Mt. Dora, full of shops, restaurants, and quaint atmosphere.  Also near are secluded parks with camping,
hiking, and playgrounds.  Quite close is the Reninningers Antique Center, a typical flea market and a nice antiques market.

Everyone receives a free special t-shirt of the event.  Folks must pre-register to allow getting shirts ahead of time.

Day trip or weekend outing, ust do it...

Contact Chris at blueamber42@yahoo.com to confirm.  Spread the word...

Anyone in North Carolina/South Carolina interested in a convoy to a warm climate....lol.  I enjoyed meeting with Festiva folks last summer and would really enjoy meeting Capri folks, especially next to a car museum.

I would love to do it Jack, but I don't think my cars will be ready for a long trip in January. The 92 xr2 is still up on blocks, I have not started working on the 94 xr2 and my wife's 94 NA seems to be in a self destruct mood at the moment. :-(:-(:-(!

That's too bad John.  Hope you can get them going.

Sorry Jack, but I can't. The cars are needing too much wrench time to be ready by the 26th.

Got about a dozen so far, mostly Florida folks, mostly people who have never been to a meet before.  No pre-register for shirts, they are ordered and available free to whoever shows up.  Don't know of any chatter on the 91-94 Capri Owners Group since I can't monitor that site, maybe someone else can spread the word...

Just arrived at Mt. Dora. Checked in at the Quality Inn.  22° with 15° wind chill when I left.  28/29MPG at  75/80MPH all the way down.  Beautiful ride.

See you tomorrow,  Jack Byrd

Well, we got 13 cars and 16 drivers to the meet, 3 cars broke and looking for help!  All Florida folks, except for Jack... so how do you post reals pics here instead of links?

Had a great time, meet some nice people, and saw some nice cars. Would like to do it again.

Thanks again,  Jack Byrd

If you're going back home that late, we're trying to get some Capri's to crash a Festiva meet in April.
