Title: 1994 Capri rear strut mounting ---2 designs Why??
Post by: genes501 on August 30, 2016, 10:37:11 AM
I have a 1994 Capri - base model   The strut mount setup is different in my later build car than another 1994 base Capri.   The cars are about 2600 units apart in vehicle sequence.

The earlier car has this a 2 bolt mount with a  brake line bracket on the strut

The later car has a 2 bolt mount with a third bolt through a bracket on the strut.  The brake line bracket is separately mounted.

Because of the difference I have not been able to fine replacement struts.  All suppliers seem to have the earlier design.

Has anyone else seem the problem?

I dont own a 94, but I know for a fact towards the end of production they mixed and matched things on these cars to get rid of the excess parts.  That being said im unsure how to help sorry  :-\

Simply remove the "extra" bracket found on the later build car....you can then use 91-93 struts.
