Title: Knocking sound
Post by: Capritain on November 09, 2015, 12:35:08 AM
What can cause my right front wheel knocking sound even moving straight. Because only 3 lugs? Also this is newer axle. Need someone who can drive stick while I listen.

Jack up the wheel and check it out eye to eye :o
Handle it, shake it, roll it, take it off, yank it, and generally put it through the ringer >:(

If you only have three lugs holding it on the sound could be bearing related.  Cross your fingers it's just a missing brake spring or loose caliper.

The brake part is good. I just changed it.
If it's the bearing in the knuckle. I am planning to replace it or second attempt to take it apart again. Next spring.

So here I go. Top down, let someone drive while I listen.  Can't hear the knocking.  Usually hear it during free wheel, neutral, or off grear.  Jacked up, spin the wheel, smooth. Will have to Jack both side up and put in gear and drive standing still.
