Post by: T.J. on February 27, 2008, 05:09:00 PM
hey guys,

my parents get my mail so i havent read the letter yet, but apparently something came for me from ford about a cruise control recall.  something about it possibly causing a fire under the hood.  has anybody had any experience with this?

ya all 92-2004 fords cars which include the capri need to get the speedo relay removed. i actually got a letter yesterday telling me the new replacement part is now in and ready for me to install.

No. The relay activates the system IIRC.

The temp fix is to pull the cruise control fuse so the system wont get any power.

The Recall Info (http://www.ford.com/dynamic/metatags/article-detail/223_important_notice_voluntary_recall_update)... Ford Australia (http://www.ford.com.au) doesn't have any recall info on it's site, at all? When I put in the Australian VIN on the US site, it said it was invalid. So looks like I will have to contact them about it.

Its for the 94 model capri only i believe. 91-93 uses mitsubushi electronics for the cruise control.
