Title: Big problems with 91 1.6 N/A
Post by: jsolve on April 16, 2009, 04:02:00 AM
Hey guys, My name is Jeff and I'm from Freeport, FL.  My wife and I have owned a 1991 Capri for several years. A couple of years ago I completely rebuilt the engine from top to bottom.  It worked perfect until now. The engine skips and spudders intermittently.  Every thing is new, cap & rotor, wires, alternator, plugs, fuel filter, o2 sensor.  The compression is perfect on every cylinder and I have cleaned and checked every ground on the car.  Nobody I have talked to has any idea what it could be.  The only other info I can give is The Tack and the Temp guage jump wildly when the symptoms are happening.  Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.  Thank You

It sounds like the Ignitor Module inside the distributor is giving out. Not sure why the temp gauge would jump like that though. There is a ground near the thermostat housing, did you get that one?

Jeff-
I have both an ECU, and a distributor.  Email me at cougar1prod@comcast.net with an offer, and let's see if we can get your car running right!
