Post by: cjizzle252 on January 13, 2015, 11:21:18 PM
will these 323/gtx sway bars fit a capri? and are they worth it over the stock ones? http://www.andysautosport.com/sway_bars/mazda_323.html
im ordering a new set of KYB struts soon but im looking to upgrade the sway bars as well

Interesting question, I would also be interested to know.  I have already learned that there are two sizes of rear bars and that the end links that Russ sells, don't fit either of my bars.  Gonna have to do some modifying to get them to work.

I definitely need to get sway bars. I was driving down a Florida packed sand road and almost lost it doing 30 mph, lol. I went around the slightest curve when the rear end started to get away from me. Luckily I countered and recovered but it alerted me how weak/light the rear end is. It also had a lot of sway on a quick interstate lane change. I definitely have to beef it up. Mine has no sway bars, front or rear.

Wow, who would have thought no bars?  Fortunately oversize bars are available if you can't find some OEM ones.  I would guess they are really 323 bars, but should take care of you.

I have OEM Fronts and can get rears for anyone interested. Shipping would be interesting. The OEM front is fine in my opinion. I wouldn't drive a Capri too sportily. The chassis moves lie a lizard running.

What are the two sizes that have been found in the rear, are the diameter of the replacement parts too large to go through the hole on the bar?

The XR2 has a 17mm rear stabilizer bar, while the MTX N/A has a 14mm, and the ATX N/A has no stabilizer bar at all.
But for some reason my car came with a 12mm, which is really weird and I don't think it's a stock one. I've been looking at summitracing website and they list a 19mm, 24mm, and a 25mm one as possible upgrades for the rear.

Can you post a link for the summitracing stuff? Given to total lack of aftermarket for absolutely everything else I kinda doubt they have stuff like that for our car

Summit lists several bars for '91-'93 Capri, 1.6L, but RWD.  I don't know what they are for, but I'm not sure they are for a Capri, although they do show base model and XR2.

They do however list bars for a 323.

Here's the 19mm bar listed at summitraceing.

The 24mm and 25mm bars don't look like they'll fit and are probably for some other car, but the 19mm looks like it should fit and looks very simular to the 323 one Greywolf27030 linked to here.
