Post by: STE_6000 on July 03, 2003, 06:10:00 PM
This section was created to only list parts found for other cars that will not only fit for the capri but even work too.

Thanks Anthony  (http://smile.gif)  You are quick as always!

Guys, I think we should post here not only parts but same procedures we will find on Miata/323/Protege/Escort boards.. stuff like removing components, rebuilding etc..

very good possiblity as long as your talking about the engine alone. beyond that you might have small differences. That would be a good test if you do it and let others know of your success.

From experience, the distributors are different on the Capri vs the 323 variant.  Don't ask me why they did that!

I believe on that note it was cause of the timing. The computers are also different to make up for some other differences between the car.

lots of old dates shown here, but ill give it a try.....  i mounted the front calipers off of a 93 323 on my NA 91 capri.... the pistons were a little larger. the capri stops better, i think because now there is more rear engagement before the front. i believe the pads are a little larger as well. again, this is the NA car, with the smaller rotors.

as for the n/a im not sure.. but for the turbo cars there identical im running a dizzy and an ecu from an 87 323gt in my car as we speak.
not to mention the full suspension rear trailing arms and tranny all taken from my 87 323 and bolted directly to my capri...

If its made for a 323 GT (fwd) then quite possibly. GTX has different engine bay dimensions

Also - FWIW

323 rear subframes are the same as ours. Ours are usually thrown in theirs because the nonturbo 323's generally got drum brakes. 89 capri's in OZ got rear drums. 323 GT and GTX got rear disk, GTX rear end is totally different though.

The 323 turbo dizzy is the same electrically as the capri, same parts etc, but the plug/harness for it is different. The harnesses can be swapped from one to the other to make them work.

323 and Capri ECU's can be interchanged, but if you go to pull codes sometimes it will throw one for certain emissions solenoids. Not a big deal.

Hey Guys!

Can you please help me! Did I understand you right, that the rear lower Trailing Arm (not the Control Arm) is the same as in Mazda 323?? When serching parts, which model do I have to choose? 323 Turbo? 323 Sedan? 323 GT? GTX? GTR?
Thanks!
Dejan

88 turbo, fwd, sedan. The other models can have some differences depending on the part.

I'm looking for better headlamp options and have ditched the sealed beams for cheap Chinese e-code housings using Cree LEDs. It works, but of course, Hellas would be one way to improve it further. I'd like to know if anyone has ever looked at retrofitting the apparently poor 165mm rectangular headlamp system and installed a Miata or RX7 round headlamp setup? Would a pop up headlamp mechanism swap fit?

The lighting gurus all say the rectangular lamps are difficult to design for what a car needs. There are some very good round housings available if we could squeeze them in.

are there any round assemblies small enough to squeeze within the popup headlamps we now have? of course, the front where the light mounts will have to be modified....
