Title: Miata turbo question
Post by: 87blacklantern on August 02, 2018, 01:40:36 AM
Does any one know if Miatas have the same exhaust manifold bolt pattern as either a xr2 or standard  Capri's.. Im just wondering Because I've read so far many parts are similar engine wise with the 1.6l and if so could use Miata 1.6l turbo kit or at least manifold

They do use the same bolt pattern.

The problem with the miata turbo manifolds is that they position the turbo to high.

Ok that makes sense because are turbos site real low off the engine huh. But it would work just have to figure out hood and line problems then

You're going to have more issues then just hood clearance. The stock B6T manifold puts the turbo underneath it and keeps it close to the side of the engine.

The Miata turbo manifold locates the turbo off the side of the manifold. This moves the turbo too far forward and it won't fit behind the radiator.

Why not use the XR2's B6T manifold?

The Miata is a RWD car with a different engine configuration, they have a frame rail to deal with. We have a radiator and a hood to deal with.

It's possible to modify a Miata manifold to suit, if it does not fit as-is
