Title: Engine Weak and drowniing
Post by: Capritain on August 17, 2016, 08:50:56 AM
Capri has been parking for about 2 years now, start it up once a week. drive it around the block once a month or 2 during the summer.

So I'd finally got around the hub and worked on it.  Took it for a spin around the block and before I got home, gear wasn't kicking in.  RPM was high.  Park at same spot. Now when I start the engine it sounds weak and shivering as it is cold in the summer.  Like it is drowning. The rpm remain 1 and under.  Could be everything needs to be flush.

Any suggestion?

Sounds like a map sensor, Throttle position sensor, usually makes it blubber.

Last fall. I filled it up before winter. It has always start up strong until last week. Hope it is the had and nothing mechanical issue. Would gas additive help or should I just drain the whole tank?

with the symptom that I have, it sounds like many with air flow and gas.  So I tried adding gas additives, clean the air filter(wasn't that bad), spray the hell out of the flow chamber clean the MAF sensor.  Still no power, RPM still under 3,000 if flooring the pedal.  If I were to step on the pedal just a tad bit and slow press it, it will go beyond 3,000.

Just got around to work on my car. As I mentioned earlier it would start but struggling. Since then,  I'd replaced new sparkplug and fuel filter with full battery charged. I'd also spayed and clean the heck out of the throttle.  Now it won't start. Check video.

so I confirmed that the fuel pump is working because the new fuel filter was filled with gas after trying to start.
what could be the issue now, MAF?
