Title: does your state have emissions??
Post by: rcicustoms on June 03, 2009, 02:45:00 PM
I was just wondering what kind of emissions testing you guys were having to dodge in your state...

Here in kentucky, thare is no emissions or emissions testing, and thare is no limit how free you flow, or how rich you run...

the festiva ran an open downpipe its whole life.
and my capri runs 2 resonators (perforated not slotted or chamfered)
look through the resonator it should look like a screen of small holes. not a bunch of little slots. theese make exhaust tumble and limit flow where a perforated one only muffles when flow is low and when flow is sped up it blows past the little holes ( it took us a little while to figure that one out...)

so here basicly you can scrap all emissions and noone will ever say a word.

the only real thing we need to watch out for on fri and sat nights is noise. allong with the bass lovin Gs. lexington has noise violation for overly obscene loud cars.. but nothing is said about emissions...

here we only need 1 liscense plate too.. 1 on the back is all that is issued or required.

makes our cars have a really clean front end ..

im originally from maine, where emissions are big, i was used to really restricted cars, when i moved down here after the army.. i was very impressed with the power the cars made and how they sounded...

well i was just wondering what you guys were battling in your home states..drop a line and tell me about it..

phoenix has them, but not all of arizona does. they do not have an AWD dyno here for the test so when i had my GSX Eclipse it was easy to pass. they only do a idle check and then run it at 2500 rpm for a bit. i had a tune set up just for emissions.

hagerty insurance will insure rare, built cars. when the car is 25 years old they will issue a emissions waiver as well. so soon our cars will meet that. i already called them and they will insure our cars due to the limited numbers made and one possibly left. they will also insure it at your value. not from a book. good prices as well.

Hey RCI! Well you probably read some of the smog I wrote about. Also a visual is done. Anything that doesn't look factory is a no-no. Intercoolers included. Can't run the cone air cleaner. Also a gas tank pressure test is done, any depressurisation won't get it.  Gus

Maryland has emission laws and testing. to get around them I have my 17s on my car. I told them if they scratched them on the rolls they will be buying me a new set, which cost more then paying to get the car corrected. so they dont put it on the rollers. they sit it idle  and test that way, and it always passes  (http://smile.gif)

My county in PA has no testing (but the ripoff chain garages test and can/will/usually fail you anyway unless you go with their repair, not sure how they get away with it)

Some counties have pretty strict regulations

For anyone that hasnt been keeping up in the news. Obama's looking to pass a new law, requiring emissions for all states, and also gas tank pressure testing. Keep an ear out for your emission free states to see if this ever happens.

will see. i think obama is trying to force new car buying as well as more fuel efficient and alternative fuel vehicles. lets hope he doesn't change exemptions due to age of the vehicles.

i dont think so, cost would be way too much. there is always hagerty insurance. as long as they have the rules that they use. once my capri turns 25, all my emissions will be gone!

In Ohio, I have to take my Capri every two year for an emission test.  They used to charge but not its free. Also I believe only certain counties are required to have it done.  Same as other states, cars are exempt after 25 years.

This is why I like Wisconsin... All cars 95 and older do not need emission tests... lazy bastards just want to plug into OBDII and run a computer scan.

I don't have a cat converter, and the fmv shall NEVAR KNOW!!!
