This is the hardest decision I have made in a long time, excluding women issues.
You guys have read my posts for a few years, and know some stuff I have done for my car. A project did not pan out, so I am looking at selling my 91 XR2.
Bought in December, 2010
Drove great for years. Burned oil, but no smoke.
Had turbo rebuilt Aug 2014. Ran great, then smoke again.
Mechanic said prob was rings.
I bought a crate 1.6 liter engine for about $1,000, was great deal.
Have not driving in prob 10 months, is in a garage.
New radiator, water pump, all new shocks, lot of front end work done (wheel bearings, bushing, etc)
have hybrid turbo which I was to install.
Body is in great shape, needs paint. no rust at all
Send me your offers at jb.simms10@gmail.com, or call me at (803) 309-6850

How much for the turbo?

I am in the limbo land of "do I put $2,000 more into the car, part it out (which takes time), or keep trying to find buyer."
I see a handful of guys selling their Capris, but see few actual buyers. I guess if you have one, and are on this site for parts and advice, you actually don't need another Capri.
Duh.
I have to make a decision soon. Car is in Fullerton, CA, in an enclosed garage. Engine is sitting at the mechanic's garage.
We all have been in this position; put great parts into a car (struts, front end bushings and bearings, and other parts) and hate to see them go.
Regardless, I cannot thank all the members enough for your advice, patience, and sharing what you know so us "parts changers" can continue to enjoy our Capris.
