Title: broken headlight/window motors
Post by: mazdacapri on August 29, 2012, 03:16:00 PM
I recently fixed my headlight motors and window regulator but they are now broken. i cleaned and lubed everything in the headlight motors but broke the threads holding motor to the linkage. went to the junkyard and got headlight gears and those armature coil things from a ford probe. turns out theyre not the same size. are there any cars that use the same plastic gear as the headlight motor gear?

I also tried to fix the window regulator. it worked for a little while but now its broken again. the problem is the plastic cable guide thing keeps tearing up the cables. is that plastic gear fixable? or is there a junkyard fix from another car?

I found some replacement cable guides from 95ish Mazda 626 in great shape at the junkyard  (http://graemlins/big-smile.gif)  and theyre blue  (http://graemlins/alien.gif) . Still on the lookout for headlight motor gears from other cars that might fit.

Does anybody know if the driver and passenger side cable guides from the capri are reverse threaded from each other?

Russ has rebuilt regulators. That will save you time and money in the long run. I have gone the route of working through these and should have just bought new or rebuit.

Anyone know where I can get new headlight motors without paying an arm or a leg, like any other model car that I can pull a pair off of?

They're Capri specific, I don't think anyone can get new ones anymore.

As Rocketman said, they are Capri specific, and are no longer available new.
Roo-Sport.com carries fully tested used units that are not that expensive....
