I need to replace the stock 'map-pockets' that are on both lower door panels. I'd prefer to find ones from other type cars that are not as delicate & maybe can hold a drink. Anyone know of some good donor cars that would work?
Also has anyone replaced (or modified) their stock center console?
FYI...I'm replacing the stock (broken) clock with the display screen of an ultrasonic back-up/parking sensor system. Just a neat little gadgit to play with... with the new radio display having a clock, the stock one bugged me being blank.
Any suggestions on the donor car topics would be appreciated. Thanks

You can easily swap out the box under the radio with a cup holder from a ford that era. Map pockets from the right side are larger and can be swapped to left side.

94 consoles have a cup holder.......
I have the under-radio cup holder available, as well as a couple of 94 consoles.

The 'cup-holder' from another Ford of the era to replace the box under the radio is a good possibility as far as any needed cup holder. I was looking more for a 'more-stable' swap to replace the stock Capri plastic map pockets. If one had a cup holder that might be a plus but it wasn't the holding of a cup that was my focus. A stronger, different shape or unique finish was more my point. And same with the center console... I was looking more at changing the console between the seats. One that would have compartment with a padded lid or something like that. I don't want to 'add' one of those toppers that are made to attach on top of the stock console. Just looking to see if a console from a different car could be swapped over & made to work in a Capri. The position of the shifter & parking brake isn't an unusual one so I thought someone may have swapped a different console.

I'm trying to remember....I remember one of our group had either a probe or pontiac grand am center console in their car. sorry can't be of much help, but maybe this will jog someone else's memory and be able to help.

There might be pontiac ones that can fit, the main issue is that the capri sits a little low, so the console is wide and low all across. You could measure and hit your local u-pull-it yard and see what you can find.
I would think the map pockets are going to have to be a fabricated piece though. I don't know of any car that has that, mainly due to legs knocking the things over when you shift.

I got cupholders that I mounted into the map pocket for my '93. They fold down to hold the cup and fold up when you aren't using them. You would still need a stock map pocket for that, however. On my 94, I simply got one of those black plastic 2-cup-and-cell-phone holders from auto zone and cut it in half. There is a long tab on the bottom of the assembly that slides right down into the map pocket and sits firm if there is a drink in it.
As for the console, I got the one that MidCo sells. After about 2 years of use, the plastic hinges weakened and the top came off. So I went to a junk yard and the console cover off a plymouth neon. It turned out to be gray, like the interior and a great fit - even has a tissue-holder inside the lid!

Thanks Y'all... I'll take a walk through the salvage yard as soon as I get a chance & see what can be adapted for my needs. Nothing wrong with '94 Capri parts... I just like to change-up things & make 'em different.
