1991 inner ignitor module
« on: December 19, 2011, 05:01:00 PM »

Do i need any special tools for this job?  I am looking at replacing the inner ignitor module on my dual vac diaphram distributor.  FYI B6VD is stamped on the distributor.   As far as I know I just remove the cap, rotor, gasket, cover and then im there.

You'll need a 2 or 3-jaw gear puller to remove the armature from the shaft to get further inside the assembly. There's a write-up on the Yahoo! group, not sure how accurate it is though.

Thanks rocketman.  I found a good deal on a used distributor today and I will be installing the whole unit instead.

Any tips on reinstalling the distributor?

Replace the o-ring, you'll regret it later if you don't.

Replacing it is very straightforward. Remember to re-set your ignition timing when done
