Dead 93 Capri
« on: January 24, 2009, 11:44:00 AM »

have noticed that a common thing with Carpis is that they can just die. I
wanted to share my experience with you in case it helps others in a
similar situation.

I just bought a 93 Capri about 6 weeks ago and LOVE it. However I drove
it for about 3 days and it all of a sudden started dying while I was driving,
this became worse and worse over a two day period until it just died and
would not start - to cut the story short - after a month of trying to find
the problem we discovered that the heater core had a leak and was
dripping on the computer and fried it out.

We now have a new computer, we have bypassed the heater (it does not
get very cold here in Perth Australia and all is well - I am loving my Capri
again!!!!!

The computers on these cars are pretty fragile, or perhaps they are just located in a bad spot for a convertible.
Another cause of "Sudden Capri Death Syndrome" is the distributor.

Face it, these cars just have a lot of problems!!

But I love 'em anyway!!
