Hi, new member here. I don't have a Cap.ri as of yet (driveway's a bit full right now) but the more I read up on these cars, the more I like them. I would love to own a nice blue XR2 someday.

Greetings slowbird, welcome to the club.  I just got back from PA.  I recently bought an XR2 from a member near Pittsburgh.

Fairly new to the Capri family.

Ray
West (by god) Virginia.
Bought the Capri because my daughter knows how to get me to buy her anything. Not to mention 90k miles, little to no rust and runs great all for $600. After a new alternator, battery and brake lines, calipers and pads it will be perfect little car. Cant forget a new top.
If new Capri was built I have no idea yet, just started on this one. But they could do away with that fuel cut off button in the trunck, had me stumped for 2 days, thank you rocket man.
My dream car, I drive it. I just need time to finish it. 2000 jeep wrangler. I have new frame for it with half the suspension under it and rebuilt tub waiting to go on. I haven't had time to touch it in months though.

Hello! I'm Lars, I've been a member for several years but haven't had money to repair my 1993 Capri. I purchased it nearly 5 years ago for $400 from a waitress at a diner here in Tulsa, OK, USA. The shift linkages needed to be replaced, one of the windows didn't roll up or down, the ignition key wouldn't turn off all the way and would kill the battery. the passenger side door doesn't open from the inside, and I think the drivers' door won't unlock from the outside. The interior was totally dirty and trashed so I literally removed everything that would come apart and clean everything. This worked out fairly well for the most part. There's a few parts i'm not sure of where they go and I'd love to post pics on here and have you experts identify them for me! Oh, it came with the hard top so if nothing else I knew I could sell the car and/or the roof for a profit. How do I submit photos on here??

Welcome, glad to here from you. Sounds like you have quite a project ahead of you.  They are actually easy to work on, most everything can be fixed except serious rust.  Lots of used parts out there from rusty northern cars. I don't know exactly, but pictures have to be loaded from an online service.  Personally, I"ve never loaded any because it's so much trouble....lol  Sorry I'm lazy.

So I have never been a part of any kinda of forum so I hope I do this right. First I need to introduce you to my "Mid Life Crisis" or at least that what my wife calls it...lol. I will be picking up my "new" 1991 XR-2 in the next few weeks. Virgin, bone stock, all original with 108k on the clock. This is my first Capri so any tip tricks or words of encouragement please send them my way.

Welcome......congratulations on the Capri.   I have been watching that one for quite some time on Facebook marketplace, but had not moved on it yet.   Glad you are putting it on the road. I was interested in it for parts. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hello, introducing myself...

Hi all,

I've been a "guest" reading here for a few years and finally got around to registering.

I have a 1991 red (of course) Capri that I keep on the road in Colorado. We call it our "picnic car" as much for what it does for us and the state of mind it creates while driving otherwise.

I'm looking forward to sharing story, parts, and knowledge with similarly crazy fans of this car.

My best to you all,

redsteve

Welcome Redsteve, I know what you mean.  All I have to do is put the top down on a pretty day and all my cares just seem to drift away.

Gents,

Thank you for the welcome, I appreciate it.

I didn't make many miles on my Capri in 2019 too many trips required a truck or Jeep. I am hoping for better this year, more trips down the mountain on small errands and chores would help.
