Oil
« on: February 18, 2010, 07:15:00 AM »

I live in Arizona where the temp almost never gets below freezing in the winter and in the summer will be from 100-112.  Is it OK to use 10W40 in the winter and 20W50 in the summer to help keep the oil pressure up?  What do most of you use?  Thanks!

I live in WA state and have changed the oil in mine 4 or 5 times, (in 5000 miles), also installed new lash adjusters, all trying to quiet the clicking sound down. Now I am running 20-50 and it shows good pressure and has quieted it down some! Just recently installed the newer exhuast manifold and turbo, next step is to take off the turbo and have it proffesionally rebuilt, I believe the oil ring is leaking! After installing it, I ran it for awhile and lifted the hood, looked like someone took 4 or 5 quarts of oil and threw it at the fan! LOL

Sounds like the oil line to the turbo isn't sealed properly. Oil seals in turbos will fail internally, usually only blowing oil into the intake or the exhaust causing considerable smoke from the exhaust. I'd look into it.
