i looked at mazda 323GTX  suspension and found that my capri and 323GT has same suspension  and  i think  it's eseay to put GTX rear suspenson with DIFFERENCIAL on GT model, this mian's that you can put that on capri also,
it may need little modification and changing gas tank but  than we will get

MERCURY CAPRI  16Valve Turbo 4WD
or MERCURY CAPRI GTR 4WD (with mazda 323GTR engine)

thats possible to do it???

Loose translation of "monstrosity" would be monster........more or less   ;)

And the all-wheel drive Capri project is well underway in a secret location in the Pocono mountains. When it's finished, it'll be a .......Rocket!

It is not easy to put the 4wd rearend into a Capri. The 4wd rearend w/ differential is HUGE compared to the dinky little fwd rear.

Plus the whole floorpan needs to be cut out and a tunnel made for the driveshaft...and the steering box needs to be moved for the AWD transmission...and the front hubs need modified...and the custom gas tank you need

The rear frame of the capri won't even accept a GTX rear end...the 4wd was a BF chassis but totally different beast

I would had figured Matt would have done it, and have a way to sell the idea to other capri members who want it. What is taking you so long man?

Money...time...a place to work...

I'm unable to store a donor car so I've had to slowly source parts from dead GTX's.

My driveway is my only place to work...so everything I have to do has to be kept fairly sightly. The car still has to look like a car heh.

I've put over $1000 into finding parts already, Russ has helped a ton...thanks man... I still need a few tidbits for actual 4wd hardware and then comes all the custom fabrication. I still need to purchase a welder for welding a new rear frame and drive tunnel. There are still a lot of things to consider them but I'll tackle them when I get there. One thing at a time.

I'll start a thread when I start my work.

Which reminds me.....I still need to get those parts out to you.  If there were other GTX bits you needed, let me know, I'll throw them in a box and get them shipped out. In fact, I'll just drop my GTX off at your house and you can do what you want with it!

mean, but LOL regardless

An AWD Capri would perform almost as well as an old Ford TX3 Laser. They have the same motor and all the AWD gear would bump up the weight of the capri equivalent to the TX3, but without the structural advantages of having a roof frame and proper chassis reinforcement.
BUT an AWD Capri is one step closer to a RWD Capri which I am want
