Yes, Alternator gonna cost $100+
Water pump $50+
Radiator $100+
Already spent $50+ on statz and sensor.

So today, I went to get my car home from work. 8 miles drive.  Took the streets instead of freeway.  Had to stop twice.  I thought I had to fill up the radiator, I noticed the radiator was still cool, it's the engine that is hot.  I changed the stats, how do i tell if it's the water pump when you can't actually see if any coolant is flowing correctly?

Could the new thermostat be in backwards?  Won't work very well that way.  The sensor portion has to be in the block to react to block heat.

Water pumps don't usually fail by not pumping, mine would just leak like crazy and the pulley starts wobbling.  If the car's history was water only in the radiator rather than antifreeze, then I've seen pics of water pump vanes rusted away, but I think that is not most probable...Chris

thanks for the info. I'm certain it's correctly installed. I went by maintenance guide book.  I dont know if the new stats has to do with it or not, but I mentinoed.  It was after market. It has only one of the sensor not like oem with the little side sensor.

So what does the alternator volts read at the battery?

That oil pressure reading looks like my daily driver around town.  Good pressure at first, but very low after it warms up.  Will show good if I'm over 60 mph.  Been that way for 40k miles, and it still is the fastest unmodified xr2 I've ever driven...Chris
