I've got his email address (I've asked him other questions) I can send him an email & see what he says. I'll look at the parts again tomorrow but the last time I looked there wasn't any obvious cracks or other issues visable.

He replied back already, he said ...
"The old engine block just had worn out pistons, no crack engine.  Knew I needed to change out pistion, cylinder liners think they are called.  Just came across a new engine off of ebay and couldn't resist.  Thought was I would rebuild the old engine so would always have a spare"

the motor I bought will be here on friday, I'll let ya'll know what it looks like. 2 different people at J-spec told me that if would be shipped with a turbo, I'll wait and see. Still kind of up in the air on which one to do the rebuild on. Being as though this is a 323 motor, does it have the short nose crank?? Like RCI said; you can upgrade the oil pump at the very least.
The old man introduced me to his friend who does apholstery work and he quoted me $225 a seat for the fronts. Ive seen his work and will give him my seats this weekend. The old man had his seats redone out of the 94, the guy redid the foam and everything, they looked great. I thought about racing seats, but for the price I'll keep the originals. Put some rd in there while were at it, maybe just the stitching, I'll take some photos.

In reference to the post above that mentioned seats getting re-covered. --- The seats in mine were so bad off & the frame was bent to where it wouldn't go forwrd or back on the tracks... I bought a couple of Mustang seats out of a 1998 at the wrecking yard. The driver's seat is electric & both backs fold forward. They had gray fabric that was pretty close to the shade of gray stock seats (without the red threads).  I just had to add a couple of 'home made' brackets to mount the seats. For a total investment of $100 it was right for my needs. Just a FYI

thanks CP, Good info, but I really like the seats in the car, so the expense is really not that big of a deal. Man, whats money anyway. At this point I believe that I will be buried in the car anyway!!!!!

ok, the seats are out and at the shop, problem is the turbo on the motor I got. is a VJ-13 will the VJ11 parts still bolt right up, and make a hybrid?? I was going to send this one out to get rebuilt and then put it in the car while I'm rebuilding the new motor... I didn't know that they even put a VJ13 on the cars. Nothing so far, as by the small bit of research I've done has mentioned it.

VJ13 is an earlier version of the VJ14 IIRC.

The exhaust dump pipe might be a bit different, 4 bolt maybe instead of the normal 5bolt? Similar to the VJ5 that came on early B6T's

Compressor/ turbines should be identical to the VJ14 though

thanks guys, sould i stll combine the VJ11 compressor and fan! will it push more air with the VJ11 parts?

heres the real boss, and he says that it should go faster!!

here the 5 boltz you were talking about Matt

the real question is.,.. Should I go ahead and mate the VJ13 And the VJ11 and install on the current motor. Altready in the plans to get a better and larger one for the final rebuilt one. This one would be for the 5-6 months wait, while the other is being worked on. Will be either sold or put into another XR2, then sold. It would cost just under 4 bills to get the work done in seattle.

just got the turbo back with upgrades. Will be installed this coming week. Seats are still getting worked on. Kudo's to Alamo Turbo out of Kent WA, did a super job, excellent communications with the actual person doing the rebuild, sent back all the old parts, cleaned it up so well it looks new! Kind of bummer to really only use it for a month or two. It will be nice to have all the documintation, if I put the engine in another car. VJ/13-VJ/11 hybrid.

oh yeah, I did throw a magnet on the oil pan on the 323 motor and it stuck!!!  The oil feed for the turbo is in the side of the oil pan.

Kelly, here is a post from the yahoo group that I remembered..this should clear up your oil pan question. Dan knows his stuff on Mazda's.

Looking at the crank pulley, it is a short nose crank. The short nose
has uneven spacing of the 4 small bolts and 2 philips head screws.
The big nose crank has 4 evenly spaced bolts and no philips screws.
And he has the steel oil pan found on the early B6T that have the big
intake plenum he has. So to me it is a early B6T and he's looking for
trouble spinning a supercharger with this crank!

thanks clay, I'll check it out when we go to the shop later today!!

ebay item #(160461958408)

Rebuilt DSM 450cc/min injectors $95 shipped!! Warranty
are these the injectors I'm looking for?? The guy selling these doesn't really have that good of feedback, so I am a little concerned.

Any input??

I'm not trying to run a supercharger... LOL  only a turbo charger.

The larger intake is , when coupled with the ECU, designed to run a higher octane gas, is where they generated the extra 17 horsepower, I guess.
