whats up with yer capri in the winter
« on: November 05, 2010, 01:06:00 PM »

I rented a garage from a friend to store mine in this winter. YAY!!! it sucked just knowing mine was out in the weather last winter. A friend at work had an empty garage just begging for a capri.
As far as the engine work being done... I just sent the head to a race specialist in idaho, for full porting and polishing. He will tear it down and the call me to let me know whats up. He is also going to include a computer read out on the increase in HP, the block is sitting at the top racers shop here in town waiting to get a piece I broke off welded, then new rings and bearings, also front and rear main seals, you know the rest. When it all goes back together it should be impressive for sure. then i will be selling the engine that is in it, with a newly upgraded turbo, and fully ringed and bearinged, also it looks great. I just wanted to really start with a new engine before doubling the turbo size and all, you know, start freshh. I will run a another comp check before putting it up for sale. The turbo is a VJ 11_13 hybrid that was rebuilt by alamo turbo out of seattle. for someone needing an engine that is close to the seattle area, it will be a good buy!!

Both of mine are covered in NOAH unless a dry day shows up.  Then they would come out to play with tonneau cover and heat.  But if there is any moisture, snow or salt visible, they stay covered.

All of ours are put away for the winter in one of our garages...  We put a car cover over them and then wrap them up with the same plastic material they wrap boats with... and put the Omnidry desiccant bags in side the car and inside the plastic bag.. to keep the moisture and air from rusting and damaging the cars...  When we pull them out in March/April (once the snow and salt are gone)... they are rust free and ready for another summer season...  I am already looking forward to next spring!

Some get packed away in the barn....some get lined up in my side driveway and covered.  I hope to have Antoinette in the garage this winter......

I feel your pain Rocketman.

I drive my beloved Capri everyday.  If nobody buys it in the next few weeks then after the start of December it'll be taken off the road for good.  It can sit the winter, I'll try to sell it "as-is" in the spring (good luck with that !) and if no bites, pull the battery and the mags and call the junkyard.  {sigh}.

The battery gets disconnected, the top is raised, mouse poison, glue traps are put in it and a cover goes over it, and it's parked in the garage.  Once in a while in the winter, I'll go out, sit in it, start it up, crank up the tunes and make vroom vroom noises while I dream of what would happen to it with an unlimited budget.

rite on guys. Matt yer killing me bro. Can I come build you a garage or something. Shit I'd trade out a MegaSquirt system for a garage. You know one of those ones they sell to just get her out of the weather. I can't believe you got that much snow already, or is that from last year????

LOL! That picture is from last year! However, if you want to build him a garage, I'll bet he'd take you up on it.  .......And just to make sure he got full use of it, you can build it on my property!

Shit Russ, I think you are asking for too much!  For what you've gotten out of Matt already, you should invest in his garage in PA.  Hell, maybe (with Matt's permission) you can establish it as a subsidiary of ROOSPORT!

I'm trying to get him to move out here!  Get him a little more geographically centralized, and with my parts supply, and imagine what he could build!
.....and we have already discussed the possibility of joining forces.............   ;)
