battery tender/trickle charger
johnpic:
Hi again, I'll be covering up the Capri for the winter soon & was wondering if any of you know of a good trickle charger you can recommend. Thanks. John
EShepherd:
Don't remember the brand off-hand, but we use solar powered trickle chargers for the cars that will be sitting on the lot for a while at the dealership I work at. They work extremely well, never have issues starting up cars. Even if its old used inventory that hasn't been started or driven for months.
Now that I think about it, the automotive school I went to used similar setups for the cars they had for us to learn on.
Something to look into, I suppose. That is, if you'll be able to leave at least part of the windshield/back window exposed to the sun.

I use this one from Harbor Freight

With a 20% off coupon, it's about 8 bucks.

Chrispoe, Do you leave the battery on that charger all winter? John
chrispoe:
I connect it in November and leave it on til May. I plan to find a waterproof one that I can permanently mount in the engine bay and then run a plug behind the fog light so I can plug it in without even opening the hood.
