Ok very cool...I can get (sell) over $800 in wheels... $200 for my hard top.

I called the "local" junk yard and asked them what they would still give me -Without wheels and tires.
They said depending on final weight with title-somewhere between $200-$225 (if they pick it up)  .

So maybe it make sense to try to part this think out-so the "Community" can benefit a little . I think the junk yard is going to crash it based on the weight comment!?!!

You probably won't get $800 for wheels. The prices you are seeing are grossly over-inflated, particularly on the ModernCapri website.

As is sits, based on similar non-running capris, it's worth $0-500. Noone's going to pay a premium for a parts car. Yes you can make more money by parting it out, but it takes a *lot* of time and effort to pull the parts, store them, find buyers and ship/meet/deliver parts. Some of the accessories like the hard top and tonneau cover will be easier to sell.

Someone will buy the whole car no problem for a price like that, but it will likely be a Festiva guy looking for just the engine. They'll sell some of the sought after parts that are easy to remove and ship, and scrap the rest.

Finding an enthusiast to grab is is also rather difficult, as we usually have a pile of orphans that also need attention :P

Your best bet is to spend a little time getting it running, you can then get top dollar for it.

Well ok no Problem. I have to go out of town for a couple of weeks. I was NOT looking to sell it as a "TOP dollar Parts car". But my point is its NOT a 0-$100 car?!!  I can get $300 to $400 for 1960 Studebaker larks for some rust thru, with horrible paint.

I just did an online  "sell your car instantly"  -Peddle...

We pick it up and pay

$280
Soon after you accept this offer, we will contact you to arrange a time to pick up your car. At the time of pick up, we will inspect your car's condition and documentation, then pay you on the spot and tow it away!
We come to you
We pay you on the spot

===================================================================================================

Has anyone used this type of company? I am assuming they will part it out and crush it .  The web site did not mention the hardtop or anything?!? Well anyway I have a flight out monday. Thanks everyone!! I need to locate my title!?!!

A title will definitely make it more valuable. I realize that they are rare and some of the parts are even more rare, but that doesn't make it valuable. What the market will pay determines it's value. I got a lot of parts off a perfectly good XR2 last year in a junkyard and cried because I know a rust-free low miles car is going to be crushed. Sell the wheels and top and get back with me.

Yeah that modern Capri parts site is insanely overpriced. I have to wonder if anyone has literally ever bought anything from there. I have a list of parts I need to find, that seem out of existence, that I've found only on that site. But for what that place wants, I'd rather pay someone to fabricate new ones. It'd honestly be cheaper.

Anways, good luck selling your Capri. If you were closer to me, I'd definitely come check it out, and I could probably be talked into buying it. One option you've got is to pull the engine, and try selling it to the 323 guys, Festiva guys, or hell even the Miata guys. With such low miles, you'd get more for the engine alone than you would for the whole (non-running) car. If you can get it to run and drive, you should be able to get somewhere around $500-$1000 on Craigslist or similar. These cars, unfortunately, aren't worth much.

I have several interested in the vehicle - Some of them want to take certain parts from it- some collision type parts and the standard wheels ,engine and such. I still have the standing offer from a couple on online junk yards to pick it up.

I am leaning on just doing that besides parting it out (mess with shipping wheels ect)- I guess the yards will do it.  Locating the title - works been crazy.

Thanks all

The yard will pull the catalytic converter and more than likely crush the rest whole

Congratulate me, I got it running. A couple of days work and $200 in parts.
