IAC

(1/1)

greywolf27030:
Anyone have an extra good IAC laying around?

greywolf27030:
From research, looks like the 1988 323 IAC which is supposed to interchange with the Capri has different mounting holes and plumbing layout than the Capri. The N/A is also listed as a different IAC than the turbo although the pictures are identical. Wonder what the difference is? Has anyone ever taken one of these apart?

Kiwimagic:
The early one is on the other end of the inlet manifold. The water channels get blocked up with rust.  Use a heat gun to heat the IAC up. If it is working the air will be shut off when hot.  Then replace the water lines that connect to the IAC. Check that the outlet under the inlet manifold is not blocked.
I thought of replacing the IAC with a temp controlled solenoid. Just fit it into the hoses that run from the from the IAC. You can purchase cheap adjustable temp controlled stuff from Aliexpress.

Both the solenoid and wax parts of mine worked but the water passage was stopped up. I soaked it in WD40, carb cleaner and rust remover. None of that worked. Finally found one. Thanks
