Ford badge?
« on: September 21, 2020, 04:01:14 PM »

Heya all,

The Capri I just bought (my first one!) has Ford badges on the front and back instead of Mercury badges.  The previous owner didn't know why and neither do I.  Is this normal, or do you think someone took off the Mercury badges and put Ford on it?  Here is a pic of the front one -

Probably a salute to it's heritage.  In Australia, they are Ford Capris.

Hi!

Could be a nod to the Aussies.
Could also be that someone brought some parts back from a trip or something.
I used to bring VW parts for my bro when he had that old Golf.

Cheers

All Capri's since introduction in 1968 are Ford.  They were offered in 1970 as a Mercury small car offering in USA as the Cougar had grown into a huge luxury car and the new Mustang II was based on the Pinto/Bobcat.

The Aussie Capri is also found in Germany and Nordic Countries as some more "well off" people imported them.
