Transmission commonality Mazda 323

(1/2) > >>

JimmyGermany:
Hello TeamCapri!

I’m brand-spanking new to the forum, and look forward to chatting with other owners and maybe organizing a road-trip.

I’ve got a 1993 non-turbo ... and that in Germany. Not the most common of birds here.

Anyway - how far does the Mazda commonality go as far as the transmission? I’ve been told my shifter linkage needs replacement, and am wondering if Mazda parts are usable.

Cheers
James

more than likely it is the shifter bushings that have disintegrated. it is a very common thing with our cars.  They are cheap.  A NAPA part number is 0771303. Not sure if you have NAPA stores in Germany. If you do a search on this site for shifter bushings, you should find posts with more information.

JimmyGermany:
Hey JDP,

Many thanks!
Sadly, no NAPA here in Germany ... but I know people who know people ;-).
Hopefully, the fix is as easy as that.
I like my "new" toy, and want to get it in shape before he goes into hibernation.
Looking forward to a fun season next year!
Safe Travels

Rocketman:
The shifter bushings are very common, you should have no trouble sourcing them. Try 88/89 Mazda 323 or 91-94 Ford Escort GT or whatever flavour of these you got over there.

If it's more than the bushings then you will have to do some deeper digging but should be able to find whatever you need

JimmyGermany:
Hi Everbody and thanks for the info.

The NAPA bushings are on the way, as are the oil-bronze versions from CorkSport.
Anybody put in the bronze ones?

Cheers
James
