New Pulley
« on: February 22, 2019, 11:08:11 PM »

The Capri needs a new pully for the water pump, can anyone send me a link to a replacement? I've found this one but I didn't know if it was the right one. https://www.autozone.com/external-engine/idler-pulley/duralast-idler-pulley/634098_658599_0

That is definitely not a water pump pulley for a Capri. Water pump pulley has three mounting holes and is much larger in diameter. The link you posted looks like a idler pulley which is correct for a '91 N/A Capri and others.

Perhaps you are thinking of the idler? Water pump pulleys don't normally go bad but the idler pulley bearings do.

Water pump pulley:

Generic idler pulley w/bearing (not Capri specific):

Closer, but no. The pulley you are looking for is a single v-groove pulley.

Did you find out what is wrong with yours? Like someone above said, it's not an item that generally goes bad or wears out.
I don't know of anywhere you could purchase them brand new, perhaps at a Mazda dealership.
Should be the same for the 89-93 Mazda Miata. They did switch to a 4-rib micro-v at some point but I'm not exactly sure when.

The pulley was bent from the previous owner, but it was no fault of his own. He really wasn't a car person and didn't know much about the car, so I bought it off of him. And the 89-93 miata's have the same pulley? I'll look for it today and tomorrow (Taking a junkyard excursion). Thanks again
