Feels like the 5th gear synchro on the magenta 94 xr2 has gone bad, anyone know if the part is available and how complicated is the repair?

I have a 5 speed from my original '91 XR2, which is sitting in a tote at my job completely disassembled. The good news is that I could pretty easily either send you the main & counter shafts, or just press whichever gears off that you need and send you just those. The bad news is that they are a bear to re-build. I gave up on that project and just replaced my trans, hence the spare.

So I can get you the part, if you want it. It's not a fun job, though. As a professional mechanic, if I were in your shoes, I'd likely send the transmission to a rebuilder who specializes in them.

Links to specialists, engine, transmission, turbos and other items, is something we should try to work up.
