TPS
« on: October 21, 2018, 05:55:40 PM »

I've been trying to find cheap alternatives to our hard to find TPS units and I've come across a few part numbers that MIGHT work with some modifications.

Original Ford part is CXE 1329.

Alternatives:
Intermotor TH338. Looks identical to ours EXCEPT the mounting ears are reversed. Could be made to fit with a few pieces of thin aluminum or steel shim.
Drawback is that these came on the '86-'87 626 so they aren't too common.

It's probably also possible to rebuild the stock unit with a new potentiometer inside

The Beck/Arnley Throttle Position Sensor 1580909 is from manual transmission equipped BG series cars. The 3 wires are not electrically compatible and won’t work on the Capri because it doesn’t have a potentiometer inside, It’s nothing more then a pair of switches. One switch says the throttle is closed and the other says it’s full open.

Thanks for the info, I'll delete that one.
