3800 rev at 70 mph
« on: August 07, 2018, 09:58:18 AM »

I just bought a 92 mercury capri xr2 base model.  The idle seems to be fine sitting.  Once i get up to 70 mph the rev is at 3800. Im gonna try bleeding the slave cylinder here shortly cause the clutch does feel a little weak.  Looking for advice of other causes.

It will be 3800 at 70 mph on these cars.   You indicate xr2.  The have cable system for clutch, not hydralic like the NA.

I read somewhere that it should be at 3000 at 70. I could be wrong though.

3000 will be more like 60MPH for a N/A.  There is a conversion for the turbo transmission to decrease the cruise RPM.

3800 at 70 sounds right, my wife drives her v6 camaro with 2000 rpm at 60, she always is trying to shift into 6th gear in my Capris!!
