New header design
« on: August 06, 2018, 01:21:40 PM »

So, Mazda has a new header design for their SkyActiv turbo engines. it joins cylinders two and three in the same long-tube primary, and leaves 1 and 4 by themselves. I'm going to try building a turbo header along these lines with the same flange as our VJ's and report my findings. if it pans out, I'm going to start selling them. I'm still taking orders on 2.25 exhaust kits, mind you, so let me know if you're interested, people!

I'd put a T25/T28 flange on it.

Better availability and selection of T25/T28 turbos.

I can totally get bulk orders of those flanges, as well. Anything else? T4?

They've got a couple more things going on than just a header design: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCEarzwakgc
Looks like the special bits are cast into the head, and a turbo with a more complicated dual scroll housing

ANY header design would be great, we don't exactly have a lot of bolt on options. or any options. haha
T25 flange would be where the money's at, VJ series can retire for something more efficient

If somebody would send me a t25 flanged turbo to use for the design process, I'd give them a killer deal on the first header I'll build like that, if not just build you one for free...

Loved that bit of explanation of what is going on in the new engine.

I am 100% interested in a 2.25" exhaust system if it is a turbo back, downpipe included, that fits well and is a true bolt on solution for the Capri XR2. I'll need the price, time it takes to build, and shipping to Massachusetts. I'm very happy this will finally be available. Thanks Gaz!

I have a GT2860RS "disco potato" Garrett ball bearing turbo on the shelf here, saved for a special project. It's a T25 flange.

Have been looking into getting a TIG welder.

If I ever get around to mocking it in an engine bay I'll pass the fitment info to you

What would the cost be do you think? I'm looking to get it done after my cars all back together.
