Try it. Mine was so bad that I was sure it was probably shot. That was 30k ago and she is still a treat to shift compared to my 07 Focus. The change took effect within a few blocks of driving after the change. The last time I saw something like it was with the same problem when I had a 92 topaz which did the same thing. I bought it at a good price knowing it had a bad head gasket which I fixed, but I had that syncro issue to fix still. My brother who raced a 86 Escort GT convinced me to try Mobil1 synthetic trans fluid in it and I had a similar outcome. Within a few miles she stopped being troublesome into 3rd and I put another 60k on that car and never had any issues with the trans again. That’s why I tried synthetics twice with the Capri before I heard about the Synchromesh. I don’t know why, but it works better in the Capri transaxle than synthetics do. I ran synthetic ATF in my SHO also, but I think the Capri needs Penzoil Syncromesh.
