Outer door handles?

(1/3) > >>

BiPoBro:
I was wondering if there were any outer door handles that people know of that work with the Capri. The cold weather here recently has taken a toll on the already brittle plastics and my driver side door handle snapped. I'm in desperate need of a replacement and just can't seem to find anything that will work (within my rather small budget that i'm working with now)

WashiestSnake:
I believe for the outer they are 1986 Mazda 323 door handles. The interiors are Mazda b600 truck.  Jack Byrd can comment on this hes replaced his.

greywolf27030:
Yeah, eBay did have them for $10 or something for one for 323.  They are shiny rather than flat, but I like it better because it matches the windshield and other door trim and he trim on the top cover.  I think Probe and Tracer handles also fit.  Check it out.

SHOwn:
You probably have what you need already, but don't know it. If the hinge mechanism and spring did not fail, but the handle no longer operates the latch, you can swap right for left. The actuator rod is clipped to a rather weak plastic ear with a hole in it which mounts to the rear hinge of the two hinges on each door handle. Rear = toward rear of car. Forward of the front hinge on the same molded plastic piece is an identical hole and boss, so these can be swapped. My nice body colored handles both had the rear hole position break off so I just put them in the other side doors and used the forward boss and hole (because on the other side of the car forward now became rear) and they work perfectly.

BiPoBro:
Thanks gents, I'll get on ordering a 323 door handle. And thanks for the suggestion SHOwn, but we've already had to swap sides with the door handles once already. The driver door wouldn't open from the outside when I first started to work on the car :P
