Thermostats
« on: February 14, 2017, 05:20:58 PM »

Will a 185* thermostat work with the XR2 or do you need a 195*?   My XR2 runs at 175* which isn't enough to get it off fast idle/

Thanks, Jack Byr

Stick with the OEM 195 degree - i've played with cooler t-stats in the past and the ECU and engine as a whole aren't meant to deal with them. No heat, and horrible gas mileage because the engine never comes to "temp"

Also check the coolant circuit feeding the ISC/BAC - they often become clogged, causing the high idle to stick

Thanks, that was my thinking.  I spent in excess of eight hours clearing the ISC circuit on my N?A because the PO had used an ungodly amount of stop leak to "fix" a leaking radiator which was still leaking when I got it.
