92 Capri with a V6 for sale
« on: June 03, 2016, 09:48:24 AM »

IMHO this has to be the most unique Capri I've ever seen! They're asking $6500 for it on craigslist.

You found this in the dictionary beside the definition of ugly, right?

Sheesh, that's bad.  But I wonder where the seats are from?  Does anyone recognize them?

Looks euro. I'd wager Saab or VW...

Unique... I guess. Appears well executed compared to most of the other stuff out there.
Very interested in the RWD conversion of it... looks like he needed to blast the front end way out to make the engine fit.

I'm pretty sure he's using the Ranger frame, suspension, and the Vulcan V6 drivetrain. That would explain why the front wheels are pushed forward and from the interior pic, the use of the stock speedometer.

If I was converting a Capri to RWD, I'd use the early 90's Ranger frame due to the nearly identical track width to the Capri and would have shorted the frame and driveshaft to make the wheelbase match.

We can do almost anything with enough information, willpower, resources and time, but as a famous figure skater said once, "why, why?"

Nothing on that car is Ranger or S10.....frame, suspension or drivetrain!

I drove 3 1/2 hours (one way) to go see this thing today....I literally just walked in the door. I took some pics for everybody - I will try and get them posted tomorrow some time.

I was half wrong in my previous post about no Ranger parts.....although a Ranger was not used in any way, the drivetrain WAS available in a Ranger. Alvin used the drivetrain from a 1988 Ford Aerostar van - 3.0 V6 engine/trans/rear axle. He welded subframes on to get everything to mount, and used a Mustang 2 front suspension/steering set-up.
The body work is 100% metal - there is NO fiberglass in this build.
Seats are out of a late-model Volvo.
I can post more info next week.
Here is a link to a bunch of pictures...feel free to ask questions, and if I can't answer them, I will ask Mr. Bunge next weekend....
