Shift Solenoids - Where are they?
« on: April 20, 2018, 01:43:23 PM »

I am almost 100% certain that my shift solenoids are going. The car runs fine until it tries to get into second gear. The engine will basically red-line if I let it until 2nd gear kicks in, then second gear works as it should. Third and OD are fine too. This situation makes my Capri deadly when trying to pull into traffic due to the second gear delay or when it decided to just shift right into 3rd from 1st when it gives up on 2nd.

Questions:
1. What should I look for underneath the vehicle (loose vacuum/hydraulic hoses, etc...)
2. Is there a Chilton for this particular Capri?
3. If you know, where are the shift solenoids housed?
4. Does anybody have any photos that may help?

Its a shame because this Capri is mint (well 9/10) and it has this irritating mechanical issue.

I appreciate any help =]
