Install/Remove rear defogger switch
« on: October 10, 2015, 07:59:10 AM »

Does anyone have step-by-step instructions on how to install/remove the rear defogger switch (including the electrical connections)? Can it be done without removing the whole front bezel?

Thanks!

Bezel removal is super easy, pry the left trim off and right trim, below the instrument panel.  Then 3screws at lower bezel, 2 screws on underside of top bezel lip, out it comes...

The switches pull through out thr front alright, but you will need to use a tiny flat- blade screwdriver and a dental pick or very small pick to coerce it out. It only takes 9 Phillips head screws to pull the bezel enough to access the back, I've had mine off about a dozen times due to trying various LED dash lighting ideas. Just pull the 4 Phillips that hold the radio bezel, and then there are only 5 more, you'll have to gently pry off the two (right and left of column) grey pebble finish lower covers and there find the last 3 screws.

You don't have to take the bezel all the way out you know, you can work in there once you have some gap.

It's not nearly as hard as you might think.
