My manual shifter seems very sloppy/floppy.  Not to the point Im grinding or missing gears but could be much tighter.  Are there bushings I can replace?  Thanks.

There is a spring and bushing in the shift lever ball unit. They can wear and cause slop. That or the shift control rod bushing is worn or the bolt going through it is loose or worn.

Usually stuff like that was dealer only items. The only one that might carry it is Roo-sport.com

Some of the older ('86-'89) Mazda 323 stuff fits this car and the Mazda dealer still stocks stuff for their older cars. Its worth a check.

If nothing else find a junked Capri. I know of a good junked one in Chattanooga, TN craigslist. He will ship to you. Tell him you want the whole shifter and the control rod bushing. He is reasonable.

I looked on http://roo-sport.com they do have the bushings and bolts. They even have the shifter. In the notes it says it requires 4 bushings.

Generally a sloppy/buzzy shifter on these cars are caused by worn rod bushings. The bushing are cheap and fairly easy to replace.
I bought mine from Napa, part # ATM 0771303 they're only $1.49 a piece and as Mitch said, you"ll need four of them .

I got mine at NAPA also.  They are also the same as a Festiva.  One thing to note is that the rivet at the front end is a shoulder rivet and the correct end has to be ground off to get it out.  Ask me how I know.  Use a correctly size screw with either a self locking nut or double nuts so that the screw has some free movement in it like the one under shifter.  The front ones were actually my problem and replacing them made a tremendous difference.

hello fellow Capri drivers... where do i go to access the bushings ,so as to replace them ? is it at the shifter, in the cabin?  or do i have to go underneath the car?  thanks

Under the car, I do mine with front wheels on ramps.  Put a big piece of cardboard box down, makes sliding u
nder easier.  If you have someone jiggle the shifter for you, you will see where the slop is, and where the bushings need to be changed.
