Started trying to figure out why it wouldn't start.  The battery was down to 40%, but charged it up and it still wouldn't do anything.  Not the weather for this.

Nope definitely not the weather for mechanics unless you have a heated garage. Load test the battery. If it has a bad cell it'll read lower than normal even without a load. Like 10.5v. Double check your connections and the head ground. Neutral or clutch safety switch?
Then procede on to checking the solenoid and ignition switch. The starter motor should have given earlier signs.

No previous signs? I'd guess a bad connection which the Capri is famous for. :)

Thanks Mitch, I worked on it a little yesterday and discovered some corroded terminals.  I can't load check the battery, but charged it to full charge, got one click out of it and the charge dropped to 65%.  May have found the problem..... ::)  Hope so anyway.  Will take the battery to the Zone tomorrow.

Thanks again, Jack

Seems the corroded terminals were the answer to my starting problems.  The weather was better today, so I fired it up and drove around awhile.  The terminals looked fine, but it's seems to be doing okay now.  Next, does anyone know if I can bypass the coolant flow through the throttle body if I can't get it cleared it out?

Thanks, Jack Byrd

Looks like we are all having issues with grounds and connections.  I had to replace the gasket on the water neck and clean the grounds that are located on the bracket that is bolted on to the top water neck bolt.  A bad ground can cause all kinds of problems.  She was bucking and running rough yesterday.  The boost was doing all kinds of crazy things.  Cleaned and tightened those connections and she seems to be back to normal now.  I guess I'll find out tomorrow with a drive over to Shreveport.

Good luck, I haven't had any more problems since I got mine restarted.

A few months ago, before it went into winter storage, I replaced the springs and struts.  I purchased the H&R springs from Amazon and KYB struts from Rock Auto (along with new strut boots and strut mounts from Amazon).   I took a picture before I replaced the struts and after.  I forgot to measure the distance between the tires and wheel well before I replaced the struts.  But I think you can see the difference.  Hopefully this helps someone decide if it's worth it.

That really does look better.  What did it do to the ride and handling?

Jack

I haven't really had a chance to try it out before I put it in storage for the winter.  I live north of Detroit and when I picked up the car from the place that did the installation, it was about 25 degrees and everything was tight.  I had never driven the car before at that temperature so of course everything felt weird.  A week later I stored it.  I'm looking forward to spring!

Gotta feel bad for all those people in the northeast.  Down here we think it's bad when it hasn't been 50* and a couple of weeks.

I drove to FL yesterday. 80 mph the whole way, record time. :) The car drove great. Gonna be in the 70's this weekend. I might let the top down.

Here in Wisconsin, 50+ degrees is top down weather! :)
Below 50, it's in the garage and project time. ;D
