94 xr2 parts anyone?
« on: August 13, 2014, 12:52:42 AM »

Any interest in a set of 94 xr2 7 spoke rims?  I discovered a car in a local Florida junkyard with the wheels, and haven't retrieved them.  They are decent looking, PM me with an offer, and if its worth my time I'll get them and ship.  The spoiler is good also...

Does it still have the tail lights?

It's complete... nice red one, still looks pretty, just not taken car of, banged up, shredded seats, shredded top, tail lights have usual somewhat melted brake light sockets...

ok to be clear that car is still in the junkyard, i 'rescued $$$$' the rims, instrument panel and spoiler. I already have several sets of 94 tail lights that i am repairing.

FYI, you can sacrifice one 91 to 93 tail light and fix 2 94's, just cut out the sockets and epoxy them into place, same bulb socket pattern...

Then swap in led's to cut the heat.

I understand that LEDs don't have enough resistance to trip the disengage in the Cruise Control.

Does anyone know the proper resistor needed?

You may be thinking of the turn signal circuit needing resistance added to make that circuit work with LEDs.  Cruise control uses a switch to determine if braking occurs.

I would think as long as there is at least one non-led in the circuit turn signals would work ok, but don't quote me.

You do need ballast resistors, or better yet an electronic flasher module made for use with LED lights (I think they work fine with standard lights as well, but don't quote me on that) It uses an electronic timer circuit rather relying on a heavy load (incandescent bulb) to heat a bi-metallic strip which bends & causes the lights to flash.

I remember getting them when I wired Russ's Super Roo lights, I think we got them on eBay. I bet you could find a bunch by searching 'led turn signal ballast resistor'

Yes. I was recalling the two subjects a bit mashed up some.

Thanks for reminding me.

Are the wheels and spoiler that were rescued for sale?
