WTB turbo VJ14 center hub rotating assembly
« on: May 08, 2014, 09:28:24 PM »

The verdict is in: too much play in my turbo.
Oil leaking from oil seals.
Mechanic says turbine and compressor wheels have to have damage.
Bearings shot.
Post availability, send me a message, or call (803) 309-6850.
Hope I don't have to sell the car to you guys.

Tried again to enter the festiva forum.
Tried twice.
Kicked out when asked the name of referral.
Sent message to person running the forum
Might find someone who can access the Festiva forum to find the VJ14 turbo and let me send you the money to find the seller

I saw my disassembled turbo today. The fins on the wheels are scraped a bit, and you can see a bit of friction on the housing of the turbo side and the housing on the compressor side.  The turbo and compressor can be functional, but the CHRA is shot.  The play in the unit is unreal. You can move the wheels back and forth within the housing. Bearings must be shot. I will take an entire unit if necessary, but just want to find a place which has the hard to find parts, namely the two wheels and the shaft. I assume the rest of the unit would be in a standard rebuild.

Let me know exactly what you need. I have all the parts for these turbos, Turbine shafts/wheel, compressor wheels, center housings( all used but in good working order) and I can even send you a working VJ14 that is on a well running B6t that I just took out of one of my GTX's to go thru the car. You could run it as is or even have it freshened up. Shaft and wheel is 45.00 + shipping, center housing is 50.00 + shipping or combine them for 110.00 shipped or the VJ14 is 195.00 shipped and it would be just the center and compressor...just mate it up to your turbine housing. Let me know..my paypal is azgtx@yahoo.com

Great. Sounds like a deal. Will get the paypal to you.
Need a little clarification: I need both the turbine wheel and the compressor wheel, along with the shaft. I might (more than likely) will have it rebuilt since I have gone this far.
My CHRA is ok, but if you want to send the entire CHRA including the two wheels and the shaft, that would keep you from having to disassemble the unit.
My intake has a crack (Matt tells us that many have cracks in their exhaust manifold).  If you have a good exhaust manifold, I would take that as well.
I have decided to remain stock on the turbo. The itch for power is still there, and I might do it later.
If I get 8psi, it will be more than I had.
This has been a great education, and I hope the other guys have learned a bit as I have.
Russ was right; not knowing where the reconditioned turbos come from. Now I will know.
Jim

Dude's turbo was, and still is for sale if you're still looking for one.

Everything is still for sale as of today - if anyone is interested. If not I may put on Ebay by the end of the week if I have time...

Thanks!
