Ntb stabilizing clips on side of rear brake pads
« on: January 04, 2014, 04:47:55 PM »

Seems I was told I needed "shims". Seems the shims are attached to the back of the pad.
What I need are the clips which hold the pad. The clips attach to the outside of each pad.
My me mechanic showed me that I have only two; one on each side.
Russ sent me pics of 4 (one set for one side) which he has.
Does anyone else have a set of clips ?
Each side has 4 clips, but two are different .
They are not all the same.
I am tired of the brake noise coming from my read end.

Have you tried the autoparts store? They should have them in stock, or at least be able to order the. just ask for the hardware for the rear.

Rockauto shows a hardware kit for the rear but no pictures of it. "Disk Brake Hardware"

Thanks for the reply.
I found Rock Auto, then stumbled upon Car Part Kings.
As soon as someone cleared the confusion from the issue being shims, and finding out it is HARDWARE, then I can see the items.

It looks like the hardware should be purchased with the particular pad, such as Raybestos. The hardware for other pad manufaturers have hardware which looks different. I dont know what kind of pads I have.  Might be good idea to replace the pads and use the right hardware instead of putting hardware in and not know if it will fit.

Hope this stops all that squealing.

Or you can just apply some Brake Quiet to the backs of the pads and call it done.

Looks like Centrix has the right hardware.
I got the rear clips and pins, and just ordered the ones for the front.
The diagram on the Car Parts King was not accurate on rear hardware, but after I get the stuff for the front, and if it fits, you will be the third to know; my mechanic will be first, me second, and you guys third.
I got the larger disc years ago from Mid County, and hope the clips fit that disc.
