I was buying tires for my 1991 xr2. Too many tires from which to choose.
Stumble upon a website which had listing of almost any tire you can imagine.
Charts show ratings on Traction, Temperature, and Wear.
Amazing website. Check it out against your tires, and use it when you buy tires.

I like TireRack for reviews and their rating system. Easy to compare tires, too
