Shipping fenders
« on: October 22, 2013, 12:52:33 PM »

I recently sold a fender to a guy in Detroit who is restoring a Capri.  Shipping quotes of that fender from Florida were exorbitant ($134) until I discovered bicycle boxes.  It seems that bicycle manufacturers wanted their products shipped as cheap as possible, so they made the dimensions on the boxes for new, disassembled bikes to be just under the shipping limit size before it gets expensive.  So I shipped the fender, and a wad of other parts in the box, for less than $50.  Also, the local bike shop gave me the box, glad to get rid of it!...Chris

I use bike boxes to ship all kinds of things! From full doors, to fenders, trunk lids, window glass.....Best part is, bikes stores will be happy to give them to you to get them out of their way!
