Transmission replacement
« on: October 17, 2013, 02:24:55 AM »

I have a 1991 NA manual.  What other vehicles have a matching transmission for the NA capris?

I don't know of any that would be a direct fit. The Mazda Protege with the B8 engine, the later models, may be the same or similar? The early ones used a cable actuated clutch.

I know Russ has an N/A transmission with super low miles for sale

hey, i'm just curious. how long did it take to swap and how much trouble?
I'm thinking about rebuilding or replacing mine maybe next spring. fifth gear whines and i haven't decided just 5th gear swap or whole tranny.
used ones here are $300 - $450 MT.

Gary, it took about 2 hours for me to take the old one out and put the "new" one in.  I got mine for ~$110 at a local jy.  It is running great.

that's good to hear. perhaps I can get it done one weekend with my son. that allows time for teaching, learning, pictures, questions and answers. I'll just keep watching for one to drop in price.
Thanks
