accel ignition coil
« on: October 31, 2009, 04:56:00 AM »

Has anyone decide to run the accel ignition coil in there car? What kind of results can expect? They aren't cheap by any means, I was wondering if they are worth the ivestment. The new lifters, (HLV's) really helped to quiet down the motor! Shit, the last guy only replaced one of them, so about half were bad, like one side of the motor!

I'm still working on it!!

One more quick one-there is a fellow on craigslist with a complete tokico after market performance upgrade suspension mod for $400.00, he states that tokicpo told him it would be the last one made and he spent 385.00 plus shipping, is this a good deal or does he just see me coming.

hey I get up early in the morning, usually clock into my job around 5:30 am, point is I'll talk to my self. I have been puroosing the forum and notice that eliminating the cruise is talked about. Is this because of space restrictions or just personal preferance. One more question, I'm getting ready to install the BOV, it has a 1.5" inlet and a 1.75 outlet, should I run a hose or weld it direcly to the stock intake tube? Any idea's?

cool-thanks guys, alot cheaper than the other one I was looking at!

Hey I just installed the BOV and 2-stage boost control, when the BOV releases it sprays oil all over the top of the engine compartment, is this usual?
it seems like all the pipes leading from the turbo are oily and shit. Is there a gasket possibly pout in or around the turbo?
I'm getting ready to change the manifold in a few day anyway, is there some kind of rebuild kit for the turbo?
Any recomondations on what i should do?

aaaa, thats bad...
sprays oil?  like how much oil?
do you have it hooked up to the right pipe?

   ok ok hold on here,
does air come out with the oil?
if iol is getting to your blow off valve somethings wrong???

if its some how hooked up incorrectly (god lets hope.)..  its probably fixable..

 but if its in correctly...
and your getting oil mist out the blow off valve.
you may have a bad cold side seal
(the seal on the silver side, it shit the bed..) in your turbo causing it to leak oil...
coating the i/c pipes, and spraying out the BOV...

i wouldnt think, a motor would run on 4 cylinders, and bypass combustion enough oil.
 to come out the Bov...?,.?,.

it sounds to me you need a turbo...

ok, you need to post arround on the forum and ask arround who has a turbo??  someone on this site has a turbo for less than retail on the little thing.. i think possibly somewhere on here (the internet.) theres a seal kit.for a vj-14 turbo, or a junkyrd may have a good used one.
or it may be time for a bigger one...

thanks for all the info- All I basically did was take off the hose that was recircing the the old air, blocked off the hose going into the j-pipe, I got one from rocket man, and ran the BOV off the hose that was running the stock BOV on the top of the intake pipe.

co-co you out there? what kind of turbo have you got for sale? just in case I need it.

Will someone tell this old man one more time how to post pictures on the forum!%#@*

rcic- is the lead you gave me for the coil, the actual numbers I mean, the one I should buy?

There is enough oil, along with air, that it definately concerned me! As we have been taking the tubing and stuff off I have run across a number of things that have oil in them as far as junk yards go, the only capri I had even found was in seattle and it was a NA. the guy told me he hadc worked there for 12 years and had only seen one more other than that come through!

yes, that is the exact coil im running... the plug does not fit. a set of jumpers about 2 in. long will have to be made to run it. use 2 standard blade style male connectors to go to the cars plug and 2 female bullet style connectors to go to the new coil... observe polarity (+ -)  its written on the old coil and the new one, and ground that black bar that surrounds it really well...if you need some pics ill take some for ya just ask...

thank you, by the way for the kind words in the pm you sent me ... yes i have hundreds of hours into this POS and about 6,000 bucks in it now..ive owned it for 2-1/2 years and its a serious addiction for me.. before this it was a 2001 zx2- all done to S/R spec and before that it was my 91 240sx drift car ... my wife will only let me build one at a time... gotta sell before i can start a fresh project...
if all goes well my next will be a 94 capri and im gonna transfer all the stuff from this one over and keep going on it... my goal is a high 11 sec 1/4 with about 300hp or so...
ive still got a little ways to go...

well be good and let me know if you need any more info
