New donor car!!
« on: August 13, 2008, 10:45:00 PM »

As alot of you know, the 92 XR2 in my Avatar (or Click here) is terminally ill.  Actually, it needs a new engine.  It appears as if the block was warped when the car overheated due to a bad water pump. I had hoped to take it to the MACG this year, but dispite KoopCK's best efferts, it's just not meant to be.
Tuesday I purchased a donor car, and plan on pulling the motor and putting it in the XR2.  250 DYNO'D horses, and built with top shelf race parts (the owner was an autocrosser), this car screamed!! I'm very anxious to get this installed!!  I will get dyno results posted after the install (Part of the deal was 2 hours of dyno time!).  We probably won't get to the swap for another month at least, but I hope to put a few miles on it before the snow falls!

In the meantime, here is a few pics of the donor car:

And the best part............

Yep, a 323 GTX!!!!! I is a happy camper!!

Hey Russ! How exciting but sad. Hopefully you'll a GTXer to take her and put her back together with another motor. If she dynoed at 250 then the Capri should dyno at 260+ due to less drive drag. I'd love to have the power.  Gus.

I'm excited about it!!  Very anxious to get the transplant done.  The body of the 323 is pretty rusted, so the car was destined for the crusher anyway.  There are a number of good parts, though, and I plan on stripping it and making sure whoever needs them, gets them!
Rocketman has already layed claim to a number of parts, and when I get back from th emeet, I will troll the 323 forums, and look for buyers, and to see what is needed.  Then, again, there is always that nagging thought of the AWD Capri.............!
